The Dutch Project
The Netherlands is the only country in the world that is placed below the sea level. This has caused quite a lot of hardship for the Dutch as they have been counteracting rising sea levels. New projects, however, developed by engineers in Amsterdam might turn out to be the most effective protection from sea waters ever built and might mark a milestone for nations that are responding to the global warming and the following rise in the water levels of the World Ocean.
The project consists of the construction of openable doors that would be empty at the rise of sea levels. They would be held closed until the rising is not manageble. The doors would then open and fill in huge spaces with sea water thus taking the impact from the rising levels. After the containers are completed a second set of doors would open and the water would be released through specially constructed underground and above ground channels to places where the sea level remains relatively managable. The plans of the engineers is not to waste sea water at special spaces but to redirect the flow to different areas around the Dutch coastal line where the land can intake additional amount of rising waters.
The construction would be costly but efficient initiative as it would contain several large premises for calculation of the sea water levels and would also embrace technological advancements for its construction. Steel and concrete would be a main element of the construction and massive channels would be able to intake the rising waters.
The Netherlands would definitely be a safer place after the realization of this project. And while the EU is paying more attention to the mobile roaming plans and the ease in communications, some countries tackle way more serious problems like the Netherlands, where a future project is about to change the merints of hydro-engineering.
