Who would have known, an expensive sport for the rich and famous lends a hand to help the US military build hummers with their technology that would probably bring casualties down by big numbers. If you do watch formula 1 you’d know what I’m saying but for those who are ignorant of the sport here is what the technology is;
When a driver during a race suffers mechanical damage on his vehicle, the computer on board the car which is capable of handling hundreds and hundreds of data picks up signals from the damaged part of the vehicle and sends it to the computer chip. This chip in turn relays signals to the managers and technicians sitting at the pit stop. They will in turn assess the damage and before the car can make a pit stop, the team is able to determine what repair equipment needs to be ready beforehand, thus making the process quicker, simpler and efficient. This technology will be used the American military hummers to detect problems in a vehicle if any. In turn the technicians will be able to determine what the problem is exactly and how can it be fixed instead of wasting time searching for the problem which would be risky for soldiers in the middle of a battlefield. There you go, simple idea but with a big impact on the battle ground. This will in turn will save lives and save time and resources. So the next time their stuck out somewhere in the middle of the night, they wouldn’t need to carry a kerosene oil lamp and look for damage (exaggeration, they don’t really do that), instead they can get straight to the repairs without wasting any precious time, time is what holds the life of the soldiers in its hands, it would be great if this can help reverse the process.
Geeky but cool, you see science isn’t all that boring is it?
